I started this buying club 18 years ago to help people just like you find clean, healthy food from trusted farmers. My family and I work hard to bring you what you need.
Here is what we are committed to:
Connection -- You will know what farms you are getting your food from. We are here to serve you and to keep people connected to each other directly.
Transparency -- We believe you deserve to know the truth about how your food is produced and processed. We go to the farms that we source from regularly so that we can provide you accurate information about the quality and standards and you can make the best choice for your family.
Service -- We are committed to keeping our service family-to-family. We know what it's like to feed a family and manage the stresses of daily life. We are here to help.
....And we'll be in touch with the next steps!
At Grassfed on the Hill, we work with farmers who believe you deserve the best nutrition. They start with improving the soil to bring you food that heals. The farmers we work with believe in transparency in their process so that you KNOW the food you are getting and what goes into it.
These farmers believe in connection so you can be engaged. They believe in ethical treatment of animals.
We work with farmers who believe in a quality product. Food is health, yes, and it is important that food be a positive experience. We work with farmers who meet the ethical standards we look for and whose products achieve quality we can count on.
When we find farmers who believe in these same principles, we work with them to coordinate logistics. When we find farmers who match our core principles of values and quality, and the logistics work, it’s a fit! We are so excited to bring you products from the areas top farmers.
Thankfully, there are many buying clubs, farmers markets, and similar services to choose from. I am proud and happy to say that my initial work and efforts have put many of them on the map. What I am most proud of is what continues to set Grassfed on the Hill apart from the many other choices you have available.
We continue to verify our sources to ensure that the farms are following the standards we expect. If we find a farm is no longer committed to the same principles and standards we agreed to initially, we find another source for YOUR food.
What that means is that we value your intelligence and ability to make a decision. Unfortunately, in our over 50 years of combined experience in sourcing from local farms, some of them will tell you what you want to hear or conveniently leave out important information. That’s not acceptable to us. We want to know the whole truth. We know you want that too. You have standards and you can choose what those standards are, but not if you are being deceived.
Our regular visits to the farms we work with give you boots on the ground. We inspect the farms, have regular meetings with the farmers to ensure their commitment to quality and standards, and, in many cases, we help farmers navigate the challenges they are facing. We believe in this transparency and truth so much that if a farmer begins compromising on their standards without being transparent about it, we will no longer work with them. We believe that you deserve to know your food.
We serve 2 communities – you, the buyer, and the farmers who seek additional outlets for their products. For you, we are committed to quality, transparency, and connection. If you have questions, you will get a human answering them. If you want to learn more, visit the farm, get a cooking lesson, or hear from others in your community about their journeys, we are here to tell you those stories, connect you to the farms, and guide you in learning about these products and cooking and eating together. We believe in the power of community.
We are deeply committed to advocacy on your behalf. Our 50 years of experience in advocacy helps us navigate the laws and regulations that keep you from having access to the foods of your choice. We work to bring the regulations into alignment with the principles we know you want. This same advocacy helps the farmers keep doing what they are doing and lessens the threats of prosecution against them. We are grateful that our voices give strength to our direct, connected, local food system.
Some farmers love going to market or creating their own buying clubs in addition to the farming they are doing. Some farmers do not. Or they do not want to rely on markets or on-farm sales as their only source of revenue. We get that. It can provide more diversity in revenue streams to have a group of dedicated buyers who value what the farm offers. That’s where we come in. We work to grow small farms by giving them a base of committed buyers who love what they have. It gives them an outlet (or additional outlet) to sell what they produce without having to add another market to their grueling schedules.
We understand the symbiosis between the farmers and the people who depend on them. Our farmers are grateful to have a single revenue stream in the form of a group of buyers. It is a win-win for all.
